We are looking forward to speaking at this Saturday’s Tapestry event. We will share some of our experiences as foster parents and some of the lessons we’ve learned along the way.
Here is some more information taken from the Tapestry website.
Join us on Saturday, February 1, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm, in Room West D at Irving Bible Church, as Tapestry hosts an event for foster and adoptive parents entitled Fostering Hope. Fostering Connections.
If you are a foster or foster/adopt parent or thinking about becoming one, make plans to join us for an evening of connecting with other families while learning how to build a strong and effective community of support.
Ryan and Kayla North are part of the Tapestry Leadership Team and are experienced foster parents who lead Tapestry’s Fostering Hope Support Group. The Norths will share some of their experiences as foster and adoptive parents, as well as ideas on how you can build a strong community of support that will help to sustain you during difficult times. In addition, Travis Jones, a Licensed Professional Counselor with Aspire Counseling and Development Director at Covenant Kids, will share practical tools to help you build an effective support system as well as suggestions on who to include in your community of support.
This event is sure to be a great time of connection, resourcing, and encouragement for all foster/adopt parents. There is no cost to attend and training certificates will be available. Registration for adults is not required.
Childcare is available for this event through IBC’s KidZone for ages 0 through 5th grade with online registration at least 72 hours in advance of the event; however, space is limited. To register for KidZone click here and sign-in to your existing ibcLink account (or, if you don’t have one, follow the steps to create an account). You will register for the “Tapestry (2/1/14).” If you have any questions about childcare registration or how to use the ibcLink online registration system, contact Michelle Tibbatts (IBC KidZone Director) at mtibbatts@irvingbible.org.
