CASE MANAGER TRAINING
As important as it is to equip parents, it is just as important to equip staff. While case managers can benefit when they participate in parent training, we have outlined two staff-specific trainings on leading families well and helping families in crisis. Examples include the following shown below.
LEADING FAMILIES WELL
Staff are primarily thought of as people who help keep a home compliant, but they are more. They have an opportunity to provide leadership for the families they serve. This training will equip case managers to serve in that capacity.
HELPING FAMILIES IN CRISIS
On occasion, case managers need to be crisis interventionists. This training will provide them with a triage framework to conduct some crisis intervention efforts to help get things back on track in the home.

Empowered Parent Coaching
Parent coaching is a great way to get to the bottom of challenging behaviors. One-on-one coaching is geared toward families who have particularly challenging situations, or who just want to have focused time to build a plan specific to their family. Group coaching is great for parents who need some help walking through everyday challenges related to parenting kids who have experienced trauma. Parent coaching takes place on Zoom and can include one or both parents.
ONE-ON-ONE-COACHING
One-on-one coaching sessions are tailored to meet the needs of the family. In the intake process, the parent can tell their coach what areas they would like to focus on in the session. As coaches get to know the family dynamics they will make suggestions for family activities, ways to correct behaviors, and additional resources to help in a connected parenting journey. Parents get the most out of these sessions when they do regular coaching sessions. This allows coaches to give feedback and parents to ask questions as they put connected parenting skills into practice.
GROUP COACHING
Similar to one-on-one coaching, group coaching is specifically designed to meet the needs of the parents in the group. Parents come to each session with questions about current struggles and the parent coach offers suggestions on how to proceed. Parents also have the opportunity to go back and watch the recording of the session if they are unable to attend live or want to review what was discussed. Group coaching also allows parents access to a private group where they can interact with their coach and others in the group throughout the month.
These groups are custom-built with families from your agency and can be grouped by ages of children in the home, level of care, special needs, medical needs, or other custom groupings.
TREATMENT FOSTER CARE SUPPORT
Providing support for both the TFC staff and families is crucial to success. In this model of support, families, and staff are connected to an experienced parent and professional who is trained to navigate challenging situations.
TFC FAMILY SUPPORT
Gatherings are a safe place for families to come together with others on the same journey and get support. The groups will consist of teaching on relevant topics, mentoring on crisis intervention strategies, and relationship building with the leader and TFC families.
Individual parent coaching is available to parents who need additional support. Case management can refer families in order to provide additional support and or preserve a placement that is in jeopardy.
TFC CASE MANAGEMENT SUPPORT
Coaches check in monthly with TFC case management team to problem-solve issues with families and give coaching on the topic we are discussing in our monthly support gatherings with families. Coaches get input from staff on future topics based on needs they see in families and are available by email and phone to problem-solve issues with kids and families.
30-DAY CONNECTION CHALLENGE
This is a parent reset for parents who want to build healthy relationships, see lasting change, and thrive as a family. The challenge is composed of 5 short, weekly videos that cover a topic that is crucial for parents to understand. Parents are then challenged to complete a specific challenge for the week. Whether they have been a parent for 20 years or 20 days, all parents can learn something new and improve their connected parenting strategies in this short challenge.
